Sometimes in life, the unexpected happens; events that shake us to the core, that fracture our foundation on which we stand. Life, as we have known it, is forever changed and we find ourselves in an unexpected struggle, first just to survive and then to move forward.
The unexpected that I am referring to are both losing a sibling (my sister) to addiction, or losing a loved one (my father) to suicide. These deaths are the two most painful, traumatic deaths with endless unanswered questions for survivors to grieve.
I have chosen to begin writing to help myself through the indescribable pain that I have lived with every single day since my only sibling lost her battle to addiction. With this, my hopes are to not only help myself heal, I hope to be a resource for others that have gone through or are going through the ugly stages of grief that I am.
I encourage you to hear my story; you may someday be able to help someone yourself with the knowledge that you gain in learning from my first-hand battles in losing close family members to not only suicide, but my baby sister to addiction.
